TRAVELS ABOUT HISTORICAL SIGHTS AND RESERVES OF THAILAND

.
Bang Pa-In – Ayutthaya – Suphanburi – Sinakharin
2 days / 1 night

Departure from Pattaya is at 5 a.m. It takes two hours and a half to get to Bang Pa-In by a highway, with a stop for breakfast. Here is a summer residence of King of Thailand, a splendid architectural ensemble, which slightly resembles palaces of Russian tsars in suburbs of St. Petersburg. Not far from the palace complex, there is another extremely interesting and original architectural monument, built by order of King Rama V - a Buddhist temple executed in Gothic style. Such an unusually styled temple is another proof of the innovative spirit characteristic of Rama V the Great. After seeing the Bang Pa-In palace ensemble, there is scheduled a move to Ayutthaya, Thailand’s ancient capital. The city, like the present capital city of Bangkok, is located on the Chao Phraya River, but further upstream. Ayutthaya is only 20 km away from Bang Pa-In. Ayutthaya remained Thailand’s capital for 417 years. The sight to attend in Ayuttaya is The Great Temple of Destined Victory with its famous Mortar erected in order to honour the victory of King Naresuan the Great over the Burmese invaders in 1593. Historical part of the city passed, one may stop to dine in a four-star hotel. After dinner there is a planned move to the province of Suphanburi. Here, one can get acquainted with the way of living of Thai peasants who consider rice to be the principle agricultural crop and the buffalo to be the main draught animal. Here can also be seen a show of skills by these mighty animals, of various ways of ploughing soil as well as a display of farming and fishing utensils. After the show is finished at about 4 p.m., tourists are bound to the mountainous lake of Sinakharin. This deep-water lake was formed due to erection of one of Thailand’s biggest dam.

Ecology round the lake and in the adjoining territories is next to ideal, for it is the territory of the national reserve. On arrival, tourists are accommodated in double rooms of comfortable bungalows. If single rooms are available, extra payment is 300 Baht. Supper is arranged in a restaurant with the view of the lake. The second day of the tour begins at 6.30 a.m. The lake voyage is to be taken right after breakfast. An hour-long voyage is to be made by a motorboat across the lake towards the waterfall of Mekhanim. By its characteristics, the waterfall competes with the famous Eravan: it is of seven tiers too, and its water is pure emerald. But the waterfall is almost inaccessible, that is why it is less known by tourists. Backwaters in the waterfall spurts are a perfect place to bathe in. Bathing over, tourists descend towards the boat and cross the lake the other way. A huge raft, which reminds of a floating house, will await them in one of the most picturesque nooks. This is where to land and spend a couple of hours. There are no restrictions as to bathing. For those who don’t feel quite comfortable in the water, there are big automobile inner tubes and life jackets. On the raft, there’s also a gas stove for making tea, a lavatory, mattresses and pillows, single rooms to retire, and the upper deck.  On their returning to the big land at about 2 p.m., tourists have dinner in the same restaurant near the lake and start their way back. On the way to Bangkok there is a stop for supper.

The approximate time of arrival at Pattaya  - 10 p.m.
The tour is made every Thursday. All the services are included except breakfast on the way to the waterfall and supper on the return way. Minimum number of participants - 4.
